HERNANDO, Fla. – Tindy (Melva) M. Cunningham, 68, of Hernando, Fla., passed away Feb. 20, 2013, at HPH Hospice in Lecanto, Fla.|
She was born April 12, 1944, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, to Edward and Dorothy (Fraser) Meyers. Tindy lived in St. Charles, Ill., from 1976 until moving to Citrus County, Fla., in 1997. She worked at Central DuPage Hospital as a radiology technologist. She also managed CDH satellite offices in Carol Stream, Naperville and Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton. She left the health care field in 1990 to manage her husband's insurance office.
She volunteered in the development of the Campton Township Solid Waste Disposal District. She served on the boards of Kennel Club of Yorkville and Fox Valley Dog Training Club, and owned champion Siberian Huskies and Cardigan Welsh Corgis. She continued her volunteering efforts in Florida and served with several organizations, including the Citrus Springs Community Center and Department of Elder Affairs of Citrus County.
In addition to her parents, Tindy was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Meyers; and one stepdaughter, Deborah Terlep.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Cunningham of Hernando, Fla; one daughter, Kathleen Lawrence of Elburn, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Sandra Oury of Wheaton, Ill.; Susan Anderson of Elgin, Ill..; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Private cremation was performed under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, Fla., and a service was held at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs last March. A private interment ceremony will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.
A memorial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at The Mill Creek Golf Club in Geneva, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a charity donation to the
