Charles ""The Chucker"" Gaffney Obituary
NAPLES, Fla. – Charles "The Chucker" Gaffney passed away peacefully early Saturday morning on Oct. 19, 2013, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family and close friends.

Chuck was born in St. Charles on July 31, 1955. Chuck's family moved to Naples in his senior year in high school and he graduated from Naples High School in 1974. He attended school in Ft. Lauderdale where he obtained his FCC license, eventually becoming a radio announcer and a household name as he was the most listened to person on the radio in Naples for many years. Outside of his duties as a program director and announcer in radio, his first love was his children and family. He also loved the Chicago sports teams including the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks, having attended many games with his dad, mom, siblings and children.

If you have been in Naples for any length of time, you know the name "The Chucker" from 1979 onward on WRGI FM and then later on Mix 104.7 WSGL FM. Those who knew Chuck personally and who listened to him on the air daily can testify that he was as kind, generous and pleasant both on and off the air. He had a passion for his family, life, sports and radio.

Chuck is survived by his loving and beautiful children, Christina Gaffney of New York City, N.Y., Patrick Gaffney of Naples, Fla., and his youngest daughter, Kimberly (Dan Barker) of Dunnellon, Fla., who are expecting Chuck's first grandchild. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Ellen Gaffney of Naples, Fla.; sisters, Sue (Drew Ely) of Temple Terrace, Fla., Judy Malecot of Naples, Fla., Tricia Cory of Cape Coral, Fla.; a younger brother, Kevin (Jane) Gaffney of St. Charles; and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his dad, Charles J. Gaffney of Naples, Fla.

A memorial for his friends and relatives will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Pottawatomie Park (Gaffney Field) in St. Charles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations and cards in Chuck's name may be sent to the family, in care of Christina Gaffney, 1867 Second Ave., unit 5A, New York City, NY 10029.
