Gary Severson Obituary
Died: Feb. 17, 2014; in Geneva
GENEVA – Gary A. Severson, 65, of Geneva, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1948, in Davenport, IA, the son of Oscar and Mary Agnes (Naab) Severson.
Gary graduated from Marmion Academy in 1966 and continued his education at an automotive trade school. He translated his love of cars and racing into a full and successful career as the owner, operator and mechanic for Specialized Vehicle in Geneva and later Advanced Transmissions in Geneva. His enthusiasm was infectious as he passed along his passion to his family and friends. When not fixing cars or enjoying road racing, Gary found great joy spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children Mark (Michelle) of Coupeville, Wash., and Tracy of Geneva; brothers Fred (Theresa) of Arizona and Michael (Merilee) of Geneva; his children's mother Bobbi Severson of St. Charles; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Route 38), Geneva.
Services and burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Navy Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20004 or Easter Seals, 309 West New Indian Trail, Aurora, IL 60506.

Gary, we were band members in the Lost Years. Hung out at Marmion and worked on cars together. We hadn't seen each other in years but I have fond memories of you....
