Joan Frecks Obituary
OMAHA - Joan E. Frecks, 70, of Minden died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery before the memorial service.
There will be no visitation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 23, 1941, in Minden to William and Ellen (McMahon) Schwenke.
On Nov. 27, 1960, she married Leland Frecks in Minden.
Survivors include her husband; son, Kirk Frecks and his wife, Melissa, of Minden; daughter, Kirstin Frecks-Edgman and her husband, Eric, of Gretna; grandsons, Hunter, Carter, Dalton and Grayson; brothers, Gene Schwenke and his wife, Jan, of Lincoln and Jack Schwenke and his wife, Jan, of Fort Morgan, Colo.; brother-in-law, Glenn Frecks and his wife, Karol, of Axtell; and many nieces and nephews.
She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1959.
She and Leland moved to Lincoln in 1962 and returned to Minden in 1977. Joan started working at Minden Exchange Bank and Trust in the late 1970s and continued until retiring in April 2011.
Joan was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. She enjoyed baby-sitting her four grandsons, cooking for her friends and family, being outdoors and spoiling her dog, Oscar. She loved following her grandsons in their sporting and school activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Schwenke; and sister-in-law, Dionee Schwenke.

I am sorry to hear of Jo's passing. She was a great Mom to have in the neighborhood. I still remember when you moved in just down the alley. Time sure slips away but there are lots of good memories.

I was so sorry to hear about Joan passing away. I always looked forward to seeing her whenever I made the trip from Michigan to Minden. My mother and I were looking at pictures of our 50th high school reunion just a couple of days ago and were talking about Joan who was in several of the pictures. My thoughts and prayers go to her family. R.I.P. Joan.
