Minden resident, 37

LINCOLN - Sarah L. Sheldon, 37, of Minden died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Kearney with the Rev. Chad Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and before services Thursday at the church.

She was born Feb. 28, 1975, in Burke, S.D., to George and Mary (Geaghan) Matucha.

On Feb. 23, 2008, she married Bracken Sheldon in Burke, S.D.

Survivors include her husband; brother, George Matucha and his fiancée Nylda Stevens of Pierre, S.D.; sisters, Kristina Matucha and her fiancé Shawn Carlson, and Erin Matucha, all of Burke, Amy Snyder and her husband, Toby, of Martin, S.D., Ann Matucha of Norfolk and Lorna Duryea and her husband, Andy, of Lexington; nieces, Gracie, Dani and Katie Carlson, Maggie Duryea and Olivia Sheldon; nephews, Christopher Matucha and Titus Sheldon; brother-in-law, Cammon Sheldon and his wife, LaNita, of Newark; and a host of family and friends too long to list but each one special to her.

She grew up on a farm north of Burke and graduated from Burke High School in 1993. Growing up, everyone said Sarah didn't need dolls to play with because she had the real thing.

Sarah had a special talent for caring. She was a certified nurses aide for 15 years and did day care for area families in their homes. Each of those kids had a special place in her heart. Sarah had a dream of becoming a nurse but that changed somewhat when she married Bracken. She was devoted to helping people find their faith along with her husband.

She and her husband moved to Bossier City, La., then returned to Kearney in 2009. She worked at Cabela's in Kearney. Their dream was to plant a church in Nebraska. One of Sarah's greatest joys was family, especially her nieces and nephews. No matter what, they were always a topic of conversation.

She enjoyed the many concerts and events she went to with her friends and family. She wanted her own family so badly and was close to adopting. Sarah's life ended too soon. She touched many lives with her caring heart and beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dan Michael; and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorials are suggested to the family for designation later.
