Former Kearney resident, 73

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. - Myrtle A. Deist, 73, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of Kearney and Hastings, Neb., died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.

Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with the Rev. Michelle Reed officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

She was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Kearney to George A. and Pearl (Penny) Crowell.

On Aug. 20, 1961, she married Marvin Deist in Kearney.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years; son, David Deist of Axtell, Neb.; daughter, Elaine (Deist) Milteer and son-in-law Byron Milteer of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Joshua Milteer, Georgia Milteer and Elijah Milteer; brother, Albert Crowell and sister-in-law Beverly Crowell of Elm Creek, Neb.; sisters, Florence Schmidt and brother-in-law Lavern of Marshfield, Mo., and Doris Meeks of Sacramento, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Odessa (Neb.) High School in 1958. Myrtle then attended Peru State College and also attended Kearney State Teachers College, where she earned a master's degree in education. Myrtle taught school for 25 years in Nebraska and 10 years in Nevada.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel Deist; her parents; brothers, Robert Crowell, Patrick Crowell and Mike Crowell; and sister, Reba Crowell.
