George A. Stefani, 87, of Homer Glen, formerly of Oswego and Naperville, passed away July 2, 2018 at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Marian Village in Homer Glen on Thursday, July 5. Services were private for immediate family.

George was born May 23, 1931 in Chicago to Peter and Elisa (Rigoni) Stefani. He grew up in Asiago, Italy, and returned to Chicago in 1949. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950 and served as a surveyor in Korea, attaining the rank Sergeant First Class. He was a graduate of DePaul University. He worked as a controller for DeSoto Chemical in Chicago Heights, plant manager and regional manager of manufacturing for Mobil Chemical in Kankakee, and Valspar in High Point, NC. Following retirement, he was a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and local food pantries.

George is survived by his children, Mary Stefani (Steve Myers) of Saline, MI, Lisa Stefani (Ray Mabry) of Princeton, IL, Paula Stefani (Gary Smith) of Flagstaff, AZ, and Pete (Jenny) Stefani of Naperville; seven grandchildren, Corrie Hannah, Mariel (Tom) Cislo, Kelly Hannah, Paige (Shane) Klotzman, Nick Stefani, Mitch Stefani, and Nora Myers; and two great-grandsons, Elias and Dexter Cislo.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Rita; one daughter, Jill; and one son, Mark.
