Richard Daniel Miech

Died: February 1, 2018; in Aurora, IL

Richard "Dick" Daniel Miech, age 86, of Plano, IL, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.

He was born on June 17, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Lawrence and Marion (Cyskiewicz) Miech. Dick was united in marriage on August 28, 1954 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee, WI to the former Miss Trudy M. Hallaska and they spent the next 44 happy years of their lives together until her passing on October 7, 1998. Mr. Miech served his country proudly from 1951 until 1953 as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a longtime member, Post Commander, and Judge Advocate of the American Legion Post #395 in Plano, IL.

Dick was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plano, IL. As well as a member of both the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus.

Dick was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1016 in Sandwich, IL. Mr. Miech was employed for 40 years by Caterpillar Inc, in Montgomery, IL as a Mechanical Engineer, retiring in January 1992. He enjoyed both fishing and golfing with his family and friends. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Dick is survived by his children, Richard M. (Kathleen) Miech of St. Germain, WI, Michael A. Miech of Loveland, CO, Marguerite A. (Gene) Coppes of Earlville, IL, Daniel L. (Peggy) Miech of Plano, IL, David E. (Jodie) Miech of Naperville, IL, Denise M.(Joel) Stumpenhorst of Sandwich, IL and Marie E. (Lynn) Smith of Sheridan, IL; his 17 grandchildren; his 14 great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald (Suzanne) Miech of Milwaukee, WI; as well as two nieces, Tracy (Tom) Nicolazzi and Jodi (Mike) Stachowiak, plus numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Trudy Miech; his brother, Rev. Lawrence K. Miech; his sister, Carol Jean Miech; and his daughters-in-law, Suzanne Miech and Sheila Miech.

The Miech family would like to express special thank you to both the Neuro ICU Staff at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL and the staff at Heritage Woods in Yorkville, IL.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 N. Center Ave., Plano, IL with Father Andy Davy, M.I.C. officiating, assisted by Deacon Rick Miech. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Bristol, IL. Friends may visit from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South St. in Plano, IL.
