Francis Fran Stanke

Francis Stanke, 92, of Kenosha passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at his home.
Francis was born on May 14, 1921, in Larsen, Wis., the son of the late Fred and Jennie (Murock) Stank. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha, graduating from Kenosha High School and UW-Madison. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific. Francis married Jane Ann Jackson on Dec. 20, 1952, in Kenosha at St. Marys Chapel at Kemper Hall. He was owner/operator of Service Oil Co. of Racine for many years. He was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church of Kenosha. Fran was also a member of the Elks Club, the Kenosha Towne Club, and the Moose Club. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, playing tennis, skiing, swimming, and running. Francis was a strong-willed, generous, loving husband and father, with a compassionate heart for all.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jane Ann Stanke of Kenosha; daughters, Sarah Rangel of Kenosha, Mary Stanke of Pleasant Prairie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arthur Stank and Dr. Lester Stank, and a sister, Elsie Modory.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday Sept. 21, 2013, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 5900-7th Ave., at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Hospice Alliance, or Safe Harbor Humane Society would be appreciated.

Years of fabulous memories during our swim team years and sleepovers. I will remember Fran for being ultra proactive re: his health, his great sense of humor, extreme love of your family, and sincere interest/compassion in others. Love and prayers to you all! XO Peggy
