Patterson, Herbert Mitchell - Kenosha  
Herbert "Mickey" Mitchell Patterson 1935 - 2014 Herbert "Mickey" Mitchell Patterson, 79, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at his home with his family by his side. He fought a long battle with cancer. He was born on August 10, 1935, in Elizabethtown, Ill., the son of the late Henrietta Patterson. After High School he moved to Zion, IL, and worked at Warwick Electronics, where he met his beautiful and devoted wife, Donna Barlow. They married Nov. 1, 1958. One month later he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in December of 1960. He retired from the City of Kenosha, Jan. 2, 1998, after 30 years of service, 22 of those years were with the Water Department and the last 8 were with the Parks Department. Family was everything to Mickey and he never met a stranger. Mickey is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna of Kenosha; his only daughter, Penny (Greg) Hansen of Las Vegas, Nev.; his only granddaughter, Kendal (Tony) Barriere; and three precious great-grandchildren, Anthony Ray (5), Jack Mitchell (3) and Norah Evelyn (1) all of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his mother and his only brother, Gordon. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, at Proko Funeral Home at 6 p.m. with full military honors to follow. Interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Seroka, Frances - Kenosha  
Frances Lorraine Seroka 1921 - 2014 Frances Lorraine Seroka, 93, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Brookdale Pleasant Prairie. Born in Kenosha on Feb. 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Kramer) Bonofiglio. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated at Bain Elementary School, Washington Junior High School and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1940. On Sept. 7, 1946, she married John J. Seroka at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1988. Frances was employed as a secretary and assistant to Dr. W.C. Kleinpell for six years, part time at Jockey International for four years, and then for the Kenosha News for 23 years, retiring on her 62 birthday, February 28, 1983. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Parish Alter Society, Kenosha Senior Citizens, Senior Citizens Council, St. Mary Friendly Center and the Friends of the Museum. She also volunteered at St. Catherine's Hospital, the Soup Kitchen and the Library Safety Building. Survivors include her son, Gerald John (Linda) Seroka of Franklin, Wis.; a brother, Charles Bonofiglio of Kenosha; a sister, Marilyn Hlavata of Kenosha; and also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Bonofiglio and Louis Bonofiglio; and three sisters, Theresa Huff, Eleanor Pasquali and Margaret Chatilovicz. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Casimir's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at Proko Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family. Thomas, Donna - Kenosha  
Donna J. Thomas 1955 - 2014 Donna Jean Thomas, 59, of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly at United Hospital System on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014. Born on April 14, 1955, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of Milan and Dolores (Waldow) Thomas. Donna graduated from St. Joseph High School and had been employed for 18 years by the Law Office of Loren J. Keating, LLC, as a Legal Assistant. She was a devoted mother who diligently worked to raise her three children. A prior member of the Southport Quilters Guild, quilting was her spare time passion; no family member is without one or more of her artfully created pieces. A strong but quiet supporter of others, she always put their needs before her own. She will be sadly missed by her survivors: Parents, Milan and Dolores Thomas; daughters Cheryl Brown, Emily (Andy) Brzezinski; son, Alan Brown; sister, Linda (Ben) St. Louis; and three granddaughters, McKayla, Taylor and Clara. Also survived by nephew and nieces, Steven (Krista) St. Louis, Michelle St. Louis (Bill Angelo) and Kristine (Jason) Stolfi and five great nieces and nephews. Vareck, William - Kenosha  
William E. Vareck 1947 - 2014 William E. Vareck, 67, a resident of Somers, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at his residence. William was born Jan. 23, 1947, in Kenosha to Edward and Jeanette (Bordeau) Vareck. On June 29, 1968, he was united in marriage with the former Marion Rusch. Bill and Marion made their home in Kenosha where Bill worked for 45 years as a journeyman electrician. He retired in 2009 and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local #127. Counted among Bill's greatest pleasures were fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. William is survived by Marion Vareck; his wife of 46 years; and his children, David Vareck of Kenosha and Kelly (Chris) Jansen of Mt. Pleasant. He will be remembered with love by his grandchildren Madison, Levi and Piper. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. Alberta J. Dagon 1920 - 2014 Alberta J. Dagon, 94, of Kenosha, entered into heaven on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Born on Nov. 4, 1920, in Whitwell, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Lecter and Florence (Annis) Hudson and later made Kenosha her home. While raising her daughters, Alberta was a proud homemaker. She then was employed with JC Penney in the stock room and as a seamstress for their alterations. She also worked as a cook at Rolling Hills in Zion and then became a private caregiver. A member of St. Anne Catholic Church, she celebrated her faith and gave of her time and gifts in many ways. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose in Zion. Alberta will be remembered for her talents as a seamstress and a wonderful baker. She is survived by her two daughters, Gloria (Richard) Thomas and Maureen Thomas; her eight grandchildren, Jeff (Lori) Thomas, Lisa (Scott) Gosnell, Tracy Thomas, Jacki (Chad) Zielinski, Robyn (Edward) Ferraton, Tammy Brown, Cindy (Lee) Joesten, Dale (Mendy) Thomas; a special friend, Shelly Host; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Velma Miner and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine siblings. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd. Private inurnment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Kubas, Gregory "Greg" - Antioch  
Gregory R. "Greg" Kubas 1957 - 2014 Gregory R. "Greg" Kubas, 57, of Paddock Lake, Wis., passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at St. Catherine's Medical Center, Pleasant Prairie, Wis. He was born July 28, 1957, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Albin and Helen (DeVold) Kubas, moving to Paddock Lake in 1968 and graduating from Central High School. Greg has worked for many years as a coordinator for the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services. Greg enjoyed: wood scrolling, card making, collecting trolls, and puppets, riding his moped and "Booger", and he loved horses and Bonsai trees. Survivors include: his mother Helen Kubas of Paddock Lake, Wis.; two siblings: Steve (Tira) Kubas of Paddock Lake, Wis., and Barbara (Marilyn Hermanek) Kubas of Bristol, Wis.; a sister-in-law Gail Kubas of Salem, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion Snowball. Greg was preceded in death by his father Albin and a brother Gary Kubas. Mary Ann Anderson 1934 - 2014 Mary Ann Anderson, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Dec., 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ashland, Wis., on Feb. 5, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Lillian (Kaziukiewicz) Pero. She was a graduate of County Normal Vocational College with a Teaching Degree. She moved to Couderay, Wis., for a teaching position where she met and fell in love with her husband of 55 years, Delmar Anderson. They were married on July 25, 1959, and moved to Kenosha, where she taught grade school and CCD classes at St. Mary's Catholic Grade School for many years. A member of St. James Catholic Church, Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, baking, reading and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering for the INNS program. Surviving Mary Ann are her husband, Delmar Anderson; her four children, Karen (Robert) Duczak, James (Donica) Anderson, Peter (Cheryl) Anderson and Janet (Keith) McCracken; and her eleven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, from Proko Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Emily Jo Barnes 1926 - 2014 Emily Jo Barnes, 88, of Kenosha passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at the Hospice House. Emily Jo was born on June 28, 1926, in Quincy, Ill., the daughter of the late Frederic and Glenna (Bloyd) Chandler. She was educated in the schools of Quincy and Indianapolis. Emily Jo married Norman Barnes on Aug. 2, 1952, in Kenosha. She was employed as a secretary for the Kenosha Board of Education in her early years, and later as a homemaker. Emily Jo was a longtime member of First Christian Church. Her hobbies included reading, cross-stitching, embroidering, baking, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Norman Barnes of Kenosha; her daughter, Deborah (Dominic) Gastaldi of Kenosha; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Baker-Smith. Emily Jo was preceded in death by her step mother, Beulah Chandler. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at Kenosha Funeral Services from 9 to 11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Desmarais, Ellen - Green Bay  
Ellen E. Desmarais 1925 - 2014 Ellen E. Desmarais, 89, of Green Bay, Wis., passed away Monday morning, Dec. 15, 2014. Born in Beloit, July 18, 1925, she is the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Cowan) Johnson. Ellen married Robert Desmarais on Jan. 20, 1946, who preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2014. She interrupted her education at UW-Madison and raised her family but went back to school at UW-Parkside graduating with a degree in English. Ellen worked as an assistant librarian for 25 years at Washington Junior High School in Kenosha. While in retirement, they enjoyed warm winters in Florida where they spent many hours playing golf and bowling. Ellen's top priority in life was her family. Ellen is survived by her four children and their spouses, Jeanellyn (John) Schwarzenbach of Green Bay, David (Juanita) Desmarais of Seneca, S.C., Robert Alan (Nadine) Desmarais of Oak Creek, and Donna (John) Puffer of Brookfield; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ruth (Howard) Maxwell; nephew, Jeffrey Maxwell. A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 347 S.
