1920 - 2014
Daniel Johnstone, 93, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at HCR Manor Care.
Born on Oct. 8, 1920, in Kilsyth, Scotland, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Bell) Johnstone.
Dan was a 1938 graduate of Kenosha High School and also attended Kenosha Vocational School. After school he worked for Nash Motors and Holmes Mfg. before entering the U.S. Navy in 1944. He was in naval aviation as a radioman/gunner on PBM Mariners and was discharged from Great Lakes, Ill., in 1946.
On July 5, 1947, he was united in marriage to Doris Lucille Keller in Kenosha. They were due to celebrate their 67th anniversary in July.
After the war, Dan was employed with Snap-On Tools where he retired after 36-1/2 years as a supervisor of Tool Design.
In his earlier years, Dan enjoyed hunting but his true passions were fishing and golfing.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Doris; his three children, Jeffrey (Donna) Johnstone of Arizona, John Johnstone of Wausau and Denise MacDonald of Kenosha; a sister, Isabelle Lehman; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Amy Boswell and a son-in-law, Patrick MacDonald.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 12 Noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Private inurnment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
