Donald Eark Lehmann
1936 - 2014
Donald Eark Lehmann, 77, of Kenosha and formerly of Retreat, rural DeSoto, passed away on Saturday morning, Feb. 22, 2014, at the Hospice Alliance in Kenosha; where he had been a resident since Feb. 17, 2014.
He was born on Dec. 4, 1936, in Viroqua to Edward and Doris (Marks) Lehmann. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1955 and then worked a few years in the Retreat area for several farmers, but primarily Ed Scoville. He moved to Kenosha and worked many years for Charles Horton and Son in agriculture. As a child he had polio which affected his eyesight and eventually he needed the help of guide dogs. He did not let this challenge keep him from being active including, bowling, square dancing, and other activities. He was an active member of the noon Kenosha Lions Club and in 1996 served as president. He also was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kenosha.
Don is survived by one sister, Dorothy Christianson of Arena; twin brothers, Richard (Sharon) Lehmann of Stoughton and Russell (Bernadine) Lehmann of
Mindoro; and maternal aunt, Pauline Marks of Westby. He is also survived by a special cousin, Nancy Wright and her daughter, Nicole Wright, who live in Kenosha and provided him with much assistance; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a special friend, Mary Ann Lloyd; one brother-in-law, Tilman Christianson; and two leader dogs, Eve and Eden who were his best buddies.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Jean Waldron officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Walnut Mound Cemetery at Retreat at a later date.
