George Ates, 60, of Kenosha passed away suddenly on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at his home.
George was born on Dec. 14, 1952, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Willie and Farrie (Surry) Ates. He was educated in the schools of Chicago, Ill. He married Debra Thompson on Dec. 27, 1975, in North Chicago, Ill., they later divorced. He was a member of the U.S. Army
, serving during the Vietnam era and again from 1981-85, and later the Army Reserves. He was employed as a warehouse specialist at Snap-On Tools in Kenosha. His hobbies included watching sports and fishing.
Survivors include his children, Roger (Kim) Ates of San Diego, Calif., Tisean Ates of Waukegan, Ill., Marvin Evertse of Kenosha; his mother, Farrie Ates of Kenosha; brothers, Maurio (LaTanya) Ates of Kenosha, Gaelen Ates of Kenosha; a sister, Sonji Ates of Kenosha; and 12 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday Oct. 7, 2013, at Kenosha Funeral Services from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, with funeral services to follow at 12:00 Noon. Burial Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
