Joseph J. Carlini
1921 - 2012
Joseph J. Carlini, 90, of Kenosha, passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.
Born on Nov. 19, 1921, in Layton, Pa., he was the son of the late Nello and Celestina (Leoni) Carlini. He and his family came to Kenosha when he was a young child and he was educated in local Kenosha schools.
On May 7, 1949, he married Lena Magno at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
On Sept. 28, 1942, he entered the United States Army
Air Corp. and was honorably discharged on Feb. 4, 1946. He received the American Defense Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Medal.
He was a firefighter
for the city of Kenosha for over 35 years. On Oct. 1, 1979, he was promoted to Captain and retired in 1986.
Joe was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Italian American Mens Society. He was CEO and President of the Police and Firefighters Credit Union from 1955 until the time of his death. Joe enjoyed his work at the credit union and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lena; a daughter, Kathleen (Leonard) Thompson of Dousman, Wis.; a son, Joseph M. (Barbara) Carlini of Dallas, Tex.; a sister, Vienna Rock of Kenosha; his three grandchildren, Heather (Bryan) Young, Michael Thompson, Mark Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Carlini; and his four sisters, Mina Heppel, Julia Klemm, Nora Putrynski and Angeline Spaulding.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2224 - 45th Street. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home.
