Joseph E. DePaoli

1938 - 2014

Joseph E. DePaoli, 75, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, March 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Kenosha on Christmas day in 1938, he was the son of the late Victor and Clara (Pillagor) DePaoli. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended local schools.

On March 17, 1973, he was united in marriage to Barbara Beam in Waukegan, Ill. This St. Patricks Day they were due to celebrate their 41st anniversary.

Joe was employed with J.I. Case, retiring in 1992 with over 25 years of service. After retirement, he proudly took on the job title of Mr. Fix-It.

He was a member of the UAW Local #180 retirees, spent countless hours working on cars, building cars and trailers and attending car shows. A man of many talents and interests; Joe also loved to fish, hunt and vegetable garden.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Barbara; their four children, Sheila (Jeff Zimmerman) DePaoli, Bernadine (John) Minor, Debra (Rick) Lawrence and Rick (Gina) Oberg; a brother, William (Alice) DePaoli; nine grandchildren, Nichole Carey, Lacy Sanders, Cheryl (Jacob) Kennedy, Jami Griffin, James Griffin, Stephanie Baumann, Christopher Bednar, Ricky J. Oberg and Gianna Oberg; and ten great-grandchildren, Julieann, Kerissa, Andrew, Bradley, Kaylah, Christopher, Kimberly, Nicholas, Kayla and Arianna.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph J. DePaoli and Lee A. Oberg; a sister, Mary DePaoli and two brothers, Victor, Jr. and Richard DePaoli, Sr.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Joe will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be held in Green Ridge Cemetery at a later date. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances directed to the family would be appreciated.
