Lawrence M. Larry Grabot
1927 - 2012
Lawrence Larry M. Grabot, 85, a resident of Kenosha, died Sunday Oct. 21, 2012, at St. Josephs Home in Kenosha.
Born on June 14, 1927, he was the son of the late George and Stella (Chernovich) Grabot.
He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and served in the U.S. Navy
as a petty officer and was a proud veteran.
On Nov. 11, 1950, he married Beulah Lee Landers at St. Mark Catholic Church in Kenosha. She preceded him in death in 2007.
As a young man he was employed as an actor in Hollywood, where he filmed a pilot for a television series. He was also a standup comedian and MC . After relocating back to Kenosha to raise a family he was employed for over 35 years by Northwestern Drapery where he retired as a vice president.
He was a long time member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a devout catholic. He was active in youth sports programs for many years, and coached his boys in various teams. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved the Green Bay Packers as well as other regional teams. He also enjoyed billiards, fishing and traveling. He was a gifted cartoonist and had been published. He was also a former member of the Danish American Club and the Kenosha Moose Club
He is survived by three sons; Michael Grabot of Houston, Tex., Tom Grabot of Madison, Wis., Jim and Sherrie Grabot of Los Gatos, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Melissa, Zachary, Jonathan and Vladic Grabot.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and two brothers; Gerald and George.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Oct. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kenosha. (Corner of 73rd Street and 39th Avenue) Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Burial will take place on Monday Oct. 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Catholic Charities would be appreciated.
