Nancy Frost Obituary

Nancy P. Frost

1927 - 2013

Nancy P. Frost, 86, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Kenosha Hospital and Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Sept. 4, 1927, the daughter of Ernest J. and Helen (Dougherty) Philipp. She was raised in Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1945. Nancy graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1949, and while there met her future husband, John J. Frost. Nancy and John were married in the First Congregational Church, Wauwatosa, Wis., on April 29, 1950.

Nancy lovingly spent her adult life giving back to her family, community, hospital, church and all of her many friends. She was proud to be a Navy wife for 28 years, even with John being recalled for the Korean War just 3-1/2 months after their wedding.

Nancy was proud to be the mother of four sons. She loved her growing family and especially the addition of four daughters-in-law (all local girls, she would say), and all of her ten grandchildren. She loved being involved in the activities of her children and grandchildren. She relished her 12 Eagle Scouts four sons and eight grandsons. Nancy enjoyed attending UW Badger Football games with all of her family. She was proud to be in her 69th year of season ticket ownership. She even took her sons and daughters-in-law to the 1994 Rose Bowl game!

Some of Nancys accomplishments included President of her college sorority Pi Beta Phi, member of the UW Student Board, member and past president of the Kenosha Junior Womens Club, past president of the Kenosha Hospital Auxiliary, 57 year member of the First Congregational Church of Kenosha and a 7 year member of the First Presbyterian Church and she sang in both church choirs for all those years. She has been an active volunteer at Kenosha Memorial Hospital since 1950.

Nancy was a good Navy wife and received an Admirals Medal as a Navy Wife. She has been a good widow for the 25 years since John died. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She loved Christmas with all of her family. And as an excellent knitter, she knit Christmas stockings for all family members and loved to fill them!

Nancy also loved Rhyming and would often send her rhymes in greetings to friends and family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, but spent most of her time with family, friends, neighbors and her faith. Very important to her were her Bridge Club (now Book Club), her Wauwatosa Gang all friends for 85 years, and the Hula Girls from her Hawaii bunch.

Nancy loved the time she spent in Door County. She enjoyed her friends that she developed there over many years of vacations at the Village Green in Ephraim. She was also proud of her Irish heritage and fully enjoyed traveling to Ireland. She was always up for a corned beef boiled dinner, the celebration of St. Patricks Day (really making this last all year), and a delicious dinner at the Bartley House.

She is survived by her four sons, John (Debbie), Matthew (Jane), David (Kim) and Thomas (Ange), all of Kenosha; her ten grandchildren, Kyle, Daniel (Monica), Mark (fiance;e Eryn Patton), Sara, Jared, Scott, Nicholas and Elliott Rezny, Barrett and Bryce; her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Philipp of Milwaukee and her brother-in-law, James H. Rogers of Castine, Maine.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her two older brothers, Ernest J. Jr. and Richard J., and her sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Philipp and Peggy Rogers.

Funeral Services for Nancy will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, 1803 83rd Street. Interment to follow at Green Ridge Cemetery. Frost Brothers,
So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Left out of the obituary is mention of the fact that she kept track of and cared about all the kids who grew up in our corner of Allendale. And that she expanded her circle of caring to include their spouses and children as they came along. What a wonderful person. She'll be missed by many.

We lost a classy and funny lady. Rest in peace "Fancy Nancy"--we will miss seeing you at Jack's where you would enjoy your favorite "goodies" with friends or sometimes alone. Always a joy to be around and so giving with your time and talents. Deepest sympathy to Nancy's family and close friends.
