Norma C. Merten, 56, of Salem, Wis., formerly of Kenosha, Wis., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.
She was born April 23, 1957, in Burlington, Wis., the daughter of the late Thomas and Norma (Cecil) Merten. Norma was a former member of Holy Name Church, Wilmot, Wis., and enjoyed knitting, her computer, watching movies, shopping, and especially being with her family. Norma had operated a daycare center out of her home for many years, loved all her children, and later worked as a lunch aide at Frank School, Kenosha, Wis.
Survivors include her daughter of the heart, Cassie Laubenstein, and Cassies daughter Mia of Kenosha, Wis.; four siblings, Jacqueline (George) Carr of Green Bay, Wis., Theresa (Michael) Donegan of Salem, Wis., Monica (Paul) Yucus of Antioch, Ill., and Jeffrey (Maureen) Merten of Ogden, Kan.; nieces and nephews, Jessica (Tom) Boschuetz, Jaime (Jake) Dieman, Tiffany Merten, Tonya (Jon) Nations, Todd Merten, Joel Merten, Derrick Mackensworth, Jennifer (Kacey) Eckelberg, Michelle Donegan, Matthew Yucus, and Mitch Yucus, great nieces and nephews Janae, Josiah, Caleb, Caitlyn, Hayden, and Derek, Melonie, Cozma, Junior, Gregory, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her sister Mary Merten and brothers Gerald Merten and Thomas P. Merten.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at the Strang Funeral Home 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL 60002 with visitation beginning at 11AM. Interment will be private. Please sign the online guest book for Norma at www.strangfh.com
