Richard A. Kennedy
1929 - 2013
Richard A. Kennedy, 83, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013, at his home.
Born in Englemine, Calif., on Dec. 18, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Lily Pearl (Miles) Kennedy. Born and raised in California, Richard later moved to Texas and relocated to Kenosha in 2009.
Richard honorably served in the U.S. Army
from Nov. 7, 1946, until April 16, 1947, and also served two tours with the U.S. Air Force
from July 3, 1947 until Feb. 20, 1953; receiving the Good Conduct Medal.
For 20 years, he was in the jewelry business, having owned a store in Compton, Calif. He also managed a hardware store in Grass Valley, Calif., and lastly, while living in Texas, was the owner of ABC Locksmith.
Richard was the former President of Grass Valley Host Lions Club, a member of the VFW
in Grass Valley, CA and Canyon Lake, TX, and also volunteered his time with the Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence in Texas.
He will be deeply missed by his three children, Richard (Syd) Kennedy, Jr. of Nevada, Wanda (James) Orth of Kenosha and Allen (Kathy) Kennedy of Texas; seven grandchildren, Richard Clay, Jeffrey, Crystal, Joseph, James, Nikkie and Ryan; and six great grandchildren, Ronnie, Joshua, Alan, Amaya, Brianna and Logan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Millie Neal and his late wife, Dolores Evans; three brothers, his twin, Raymond, Jack and Donald Kennedy and a sister, Ruby Longcor.
In accordance with Richards wishes, no funeral services will be held.
