Richard Frank Lettrich
1930 - 2013
Richard F. Lettrich, 83, a resident of Hospitality Manor in Kenosha, Wis., passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.
He was born in Kenosha on Jan. 14, 1930, to Steve and Bessie Lettrich. He was raised in Ford City, Penn., having moved there as an infant. Following his graduation from high school, he returned to Kenosha and was employed at Peter Pirsch & Sons. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1948. He was honorably discharged in 1949. He was recalled to active duty in 1950, and served on the Fire Department at Camp LeJeune, N.C. until his discharge in 1951.
On Oct. 11, 1952, he married Joan Marie Zuffa at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three daughters, Janet Lettrich, Kerry Lettrich and Mary (Philip) Poletti and five grandchildren, Julie Graham, Jonathan and Sarah Ralph and Michael and Laura Poletti.
Between 1952 and 1957 he worked at Peter Pirsch and Sons, the Fire Department at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Montgomery Ward and the Kenosha News. In 1957, he joined the Kenosha Fire Department, retiring in 1991 as a Captain.
Richard was a former member of St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Treasurer and President of the Church Council. He also spent many years at Calvary Memorial Church in Racine and was very active in their childrens Camp Ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Hospitality Manor and Seasons Hospice for their tender and loving care of Richard while he was a resident there.
A memorial service and celebration of life for family and friends will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Crossway Community Church, 13905 75th St., Bristol, WI where his family now attends.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the family at 10 a.m. and attend the memorial service at 11 a.m. followed by lunch.
