Roger T. Towle
1933 - 2013
Roger T. Towle, 79, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Kenosha on April 28, 1933, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Ruth (Mater) Towle. He attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin
-Madison, double majoring in Secondary Education and Natural Sciences.
Roger served our country as a surveyor in the U.S. Army Artillery from 1954 until honorably discharged in 1956. He was a remarkable swimmer and swam for the Army Swim Team.
On April 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary G. Lawler at St. Mark Catholic Church. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage and 5 children.
Roger was a social worker for over twenty years with the Kenosha County Department of Aging & Long Term Care. He will be remembered for his compassion and work ethic.
Roger was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. He kept in shape with swimming and was also a lifelong weight lifter. He taught his children and grandchildren his swimming and weightlifting skills.
Roger will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary G.; his children, Linda (Jim) Heiring, Cynthia (Jack) Oblein, Brent (Judith) Towle, Sean (Shelly) Towle and Michele (Randy) Koehler; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with his brother and sister-in-laws, Brian (Pam) Lawler and Mary (Frank) Sturino.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sylvester Towle and his sister, Virginia Larson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at the St. Anne Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at church for the Mass. Entombment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation for Roger will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 11, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
