Walter D. Bushie
1938 - 2013
Walter D. Bushie, 75, of Trevor, Wis., passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wis.
He was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Chicago the son of the late Walter E. Bushie and Elsie M. (Mattas) Bushie. He moved to Berwyn, Ill., in 1946 and was educated at Komensky Grammar School and Morton High School, both in Berwyn. He went on to become a Journeyman tool and die maker. He had two children from a previous marriage, Robyn M. and Walter J. Bushie.
On Sept. 17, 1983, he married the love of his life, Sharon Kostka in Berwyn and was blessed with two wonderful stepchildren, Eileen and Thomas, whom he loved as his own. They moved to Trevor, Wis., in
October of 1996 after Walter retired from Robert Bosch Co in 1995 as Head of Maintenance.
Walter was a proud U.S. Army
Veteran, Commander of Antioch American Legion Post 748, Commander of Silver Lake VFW
Post 8375, Life Member of VietNow, Quartermaster of Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 of Lake County, Ill., and POW/MIA Chairman for numerous organizations throughout his life. Walter enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling to Florida, Las Vegas, and the casino.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his children, Walter and Robyn, a sister, Karen (Patrick) Frainey, his beloved stepchildren, Eileen (Robert) Nowak, and Thomas (Shannon) Kostka; grandchildren, Katie (Gary) Steadman, Jonathan Nowak, Ella and Thomas N. Kostka; an aunt Mildred Stancak; a great-granddaughter, Adelay; and a brother-in-law, Bill (Vilma) Daly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL.
