1930 - 2013
Robert Metcalf, 82, of Kenosha passed away peacefully on Monday March 25, 2013, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie.
Robert was born on Dec. 21, 1930, in Reedsburg, Wis., the son of the late Clarence and Zella (Astle) Metcalf. He was educated in the schools of Reedsburg, graduating from Reedsburg H.S. Robert was united in marriage to Doris Burkman on March 1, 1952, in Baraboo, Wis. He worked on his fathers farm until 1960. He was a member of the U.S. Army, serving 2 years in the army artillery in Germany. From 1960 until retirement in 1995 he owned and operated Metcalf Construction Company in the Twin Lakes area. In 1995 Robert moved to Kenosha with his loving wife of 61 years. His hobbies included woodworking, making crafts, playing cards, cheering for the Packers, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Doris Metcalf of Kenosha; three daughters, Debra (Chester) Garelli of Oak Lawn, Ill., Pamela Daniels of Wheatland, Wis., Teresa (Mike) Meyer of Pound, Wis.; five grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; and six great grandchildren; Robert is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Cassity, Viola Schultz, and Joyce Schultz; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Miller, and a brother, Richard Metcalf.
A greeting time with the family will be held on Thursday March 28, 2013, at Kenosha Funeral Services from 10 a.m. 12 Noon, with memorial services to follow at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
