Donald "Woody" Wittrock

Donald J. Woody Wittrock

1937 - 2013

Donald J. Woody Wittrock, 76, of Union Grove, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 11, 2013.

He was born March 9, 1937, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to the late Leo and Irene (nee Reischel) Wittrock.

Woody worked for the State of Wisconsin as a grounds superintendent for over 35 years. On Jan. 27, 1960, Woody was united in marriage to Alice Smith at St. John the Baptist Church in Paris. He was an active member of St. Johns Catholic Church, in Union Grove and served in the Union Grove Lions Club for many years. He was also a volunteer youth basketball coach for many years and a volunteer fireman for Paris Fire Department. Woody loved nothing more in life than the Green Bay Packers, except for maybe the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed classic cars, a cold beer from time to time, bird watching, Alices home cooking, and his two beloved collies, Lady and Bonnie. Woody was a loyal husband, loving father and grandfather, and kind and gentle spirit. Always the optimist, he had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed.

Woody is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice J. Wittrock; daughter, Kathleen A. Cobb of San Antonio, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Dale J. and Tina Wittrock of Racine, Wis.; sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Clyde Birch, of Chippewa Falls, Wis. He is further survived by his grandchildren, 2nd LT Colleen (Sean) Gallagher of Fort Steward, Ga., Andrew Cobb of San Antonio, Texas, Paul, Rachel and Michael Wittrock all of Racine, Wis.; other relatives and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to St. John the Baptist Church.

Woodys family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the ICU staff at St. Catherines Hospital and the pulmonary staff at Froedtert Hospital for their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at St. Johns the Baptist Church at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 (Noon), at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. Johns Cemetery.
