Dorothy E. Getschman

1924 - 2017

Dorothy E Getschman, 93, of Ellenton, Fla., passed into the arms of Jesus on Nov. 6, 2017. Dorothy was born in Memphis, Tenn., Sept. 12, 1924. She graduated from Central High School in Memphis and married Robert F Getschman, Dec. 18, 1943, who preceded her in death.

Surviving her are five daughters and one son-in-law, Diane Vaeza, Houston, Texas, Sherrill and Bruce Peters, Missouri City, Texas, Kathleen Edwards, Jonas Ridge, N. C. Pamela Connors, San Antonio, Tex., and Mary Pietsch, Plover Wisconsin. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy worked at Kenosha Memorial Hospital as an LPN until her retirement in 1980. After retiring she and Bob divided their time in Florida and Wisconsin, thus becoming "Snow Birds". Her passion was sending military troops overseas boxes from home filled with items sent with love.

Cremation was done by Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, San Antonio, Texas. Dorothy's wish was for her daughters to say a special good bye in Northern Wisconsin this summer and toast to her long life. The family of Dorothy wishes to thank the many people who cared and treated their mother with laughter, compassion, love, and patience.
