Eleanor F. Baas, 96, of Kenosha passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Parkside Manor.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1917, in Kenosha to Andrew and Johannah (Nelson) Hansen. Eleanor married Leonard Baas at St. Marys Lutheran Church on Sept. 16, 1938. She was employed at Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Jockey, American Motors and Kenosha Unified School District as a teachers aide until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of St. Marys Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, the Quilters, the Lutheran Womens Circle and the senior choir. Eleanor was also active in the Danish Sisterhood, the Friendly Center and Friends of the Museum but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; her husband, Leonard; her son-in-law, Anthony Apostoli; her grandson, Robert Apostoli; her brother, Robert Hansen; her sister, Mary Jane Andersen; and her brother-in-law, John Andersen.
Eleanor is survived by, her son, Larry (Ann) Baas of Valparaiso, Ind.; her daughter, Sharon Apostoli of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Linnea Apostoli, Michael (Abby) Baas, Dawn (Frank) Lichter, Jodie (Gerald) Brown and Emily (Austin) Aytes; eight great grandchild; as well as other family and friends.
A memorial service for Eleanor will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Marys Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Marys Lutheran Church Good Samaritan Fund and the Quilters Society or to Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
