George N. Willkomm
1923 - 2013
George N. Willkomm, 90, of Kenosha, died on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at his residence.
Born on Feb. 22, 1923, in Paris Township, Kenosha County, he was the son of the late Nicholas P. and Josephine (Neu) Willkomm.
On Jan. 24, 1948, at St. Johns Church in Paris Township, he was united in marriage to Maureen Wisnefski.
For over 20 years, George was employed as a delivery driver with Deans Dairy. Previously, he was employed with the Kenosha Farm Bureau delivering gas and oil.
George was a member of St. Johns Church in Paris Township and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 43. He was a former member of Kenosha Moose Lodge #286.
He was a huge Packer fan and liked to golf and watch football. George was a very talented woodworker. He used his skills to make several yard ornaments for his family and friends. For many years, George willingly volunteered his time at St. Johns preparing for their festival and auction. He made a lasting impression with his devotion to his family.
George will be remembered and missed by his wife of 65 years, Maureen; his four children, Judy (Joe) Brezovar of Eagle River, Chuck (Barbara) Willkomm of Hudson, Janice (Mike) Nagel of McHenry, Ill., and Cheryl (Rick) Poisl of Paris Township; his nine grandchildren, Wendy, Tracy, Christopher, Tammy, Heather, Jacob, Justin, Jessica and Katie; and his ten great grandchildren, Jason, Ben, Madison, Jake, Abigail, Luke, Ethan, Peyton, Emma and Carter.
He is further survived by his brother, Nicolas (Mary Lou) Willkomm of Union Grove; his sister, Sister Generose Willkomm, OSF of St. Francis; his six sisters-in-law, Ethel, Edna and Joan Willkomm, Collette Peterson, Karen Noonan and Gail (Virgil) Gentz; his three brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Elizabeth), Mark (Barbara) and Wayne Wisnefski; and his many, many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers, Sylvester, Elmer, Frank, Joseph, LeRoy, Clarence, Louis, Matt and Donny Willkomm; four sisters, Catherine, Esther, Frances and Lucille; his three brothers-in-law, Paul Peterson, George Thomas and Patrick Noonan; and his two sisters-in-law, Marlyn Wisnefski and Rita Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Johns Church, 1501 172nd Ave., Paris Township. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Private entombment will take place in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation for George will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 26, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to St. Johns Church or Hospice Alliance, Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, would be appreciated.
