Jean F. Jacobsen

1925 - 2014

Jean F. Jacobsen, 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

Jean was born to Frank and Victoria Drozdowicz at home at Powers Lake, Wis., on Jan. 6, 1925. She married Orby Jacobsen on Sept. 15, 1951, in New Munster, Wis. Prior to her marriage she worked in Chicago doing factory work and eventually became a farmer with Orby. She was the first in her area to sell garden produce, eggs, milk, strawberries, raspberries, and a variety of meats. Jean was a lover of all animals, gardening, and was an avid reader. After Orby died, Jean worked at Intermatic in Ill., retiring after five years. Her quick wit and sense of humor is unsurpassable, she will be dearly missed.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Marie (Terrance) Carlson; step daughters, Sandra Slone and Bernadine Bentley, and their children. Further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Edward Drozdowicz, Helen Schmitz, Josephine Bakarich and Mary Jacobsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. A visitation will be at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, and again at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday. Burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery Twin Lakes, Wis.
