Jeanette A. Macarra
1951 - 2013
Jeanette A. Macarra, 83, of Kenosha, died on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Aurora Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was born on Sept. 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Nicola and Maria (Bonadio) DiCello.
On Aug. 4, 1951, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Roland Macarra.
In 1963, Roland and Jeanette purchased Macs Canteen from Lino and Lida Macarra. Jeanette, alongside Roland, owned and operated the family business which was renamed Macs Deli & Sandwich Shop, on the corner of 52nd Street and 23rd Avenue. They proudly ran the business until they retired in 2007.
Through the store, Jeanette and Roland mentored many young employees, teaching them respect and a strong work ethic. There are many former employees that owe their current success to the loving guidance of Jeanette and Roland.
She will be remembered always for her colorful language and the kisses she gave to everyone who entered her store.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roland; her children, Monica Macarra, Brian Macarra, Marsha Macarra and Robert (Lisa) Macarra; her brother, Angelo DiCello; and her four precious grandchildren, Emily and Toni Macarra Rence and, Maria Macarra and Andrew Lloyd Rankin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Gabriel Billy DiCello, and two sisters, Nicoletta Callie Putra and Rose Ruffalo.
Jeanette wanted it to be known that she had a wonderful life and loved everyone.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at 12 Noon at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2224-30th Avenue. Private entombment will take place in All Saints Mausoleum. Jeanette requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances be directed to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS. 66675.
