1956 - 2014
John W. Papa John Grulich, Sr., 57, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at his residence.
Born on Nov. 27, 1956, in Waukegan, Ill., he was the son of Albert and Marjorie M. (Lease) Grulich. John was raised and educated in Kenosha; moving to Texas in 1978 but returned to Kenosha in 1998.
He served in the Army National Guard in Texas and Wisconsin for over 24 years in various capacities and retired with the rank of Sargent.
For over 20 years, he was employed as an electrician for several companies in Texas and Kenosha.
John enjoyed spending time with his family and stayed active with his sons shooting pool on several local pool leagues and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed working all the special events at DeRangos Pizza until his retirement.
He will be deeply missed by his companion, Ginger Winter; his six children, John Grulich, Jr., Tina (John Bryan) Grulich, Stacy (Jeremiah Hamilton) Grulich, James Grulich, Savannah (Fiance; Daniel Hathcock) White and Taylor Grulich; three step-sons, Bo (Cherenae Strickland-Votaw) Murray, Marcus Starks and Jeremy (Maria) Gomaz; a brother, August Grulich; a sister, Alberta (Pete) Hamsing and 18 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Grulich.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A visitation for John will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 12, from 5 until 8 p.m.
