Joyce A. Daniels

1952 - 2014

Joyce A. Daniels, 61, of Racine, formerly of Stone Lake (Crandon), passed away on Jan. 20, 2014, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Kenosha.

She was born April 11, 1952, at Hayward Indian Hospital in Hayward, Wis., to Julius and Lorna (Barney) Daniels.

Joyce was the first Potawatomi Princess in the 1970s. After graduation from the Crandon High School, Joyce earned credits at Stevens Point and later served as home school coordinator. She also worked as a CNA, and Librarian for the City of Kenosha. Joyce later moved to Racine and worked at American Motors and Chrysler.

Joyce is survived by one daughter, Tracy Daniels of Racine; son, Gregory Lambert of Kenosha; sisters, JoAnn Jackson of Racine and Bonnie Williams of Stone Lake; and five brothers, Lawrence Daniels of Wabeno, Clarence Daniels of Schoefield, Anthony Daniels of Stone Lake, Julius Daniels, Jr. of Rhinelander, and Buzz Daniels of Milwaukee. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, Gregory Jr., Izaiah, Jala, Tierra, Julius, Talena and Talisa, and great granddaughter Lailah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Frank Daniels.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, after

3 p.m. at the Potawatomi Cultural Center, Stone Lake (Crandon). Native American services will start at 12 (Noon) on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014. Burial will be at the Stone Lake Tribal Cemetery. Weber-Hill Funeral Home is assisting the Daniels family.
