Kathryn Elizabeth Kowalczyk
Kathryn Elizabeth Kowalczyk, 23, daughter of Stanley Kowalczyk and Lorrie Lesza-Kowalczyk, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, in Bristol, Wis. She attended St. Peter School, Antioch Upper Grade School, Antioch Community High School, graduating in 2009, and continued her education at the College of Lake County. She was a 2010 Wisconsin 4-H Kenosha County graduate with Gold Star High Honors. Kathryn was a Kenosha County 4-H Trevor Club President, and active in many county wide horse programs and events; her favorite event was the Kenosha County Fair. She was involved in the POA (Pony of the Americas Club), APHA (American Paint Horse Association), retraining retired racetrack thoroughbreds, and SMILES (Special Methods and Learning Equine Skills) as well as other equine programs. Kathryn supported non-profit organizations such as Locks of Love and the Childrens Miracle Network. She was employed as an Assistant Manager at Walmart in Antioch, Ill. Kathryn was always willing to help others and was loved by all who came in contact with her. Kathryn was an extremely talented graphic designer and artist with her own design website. Horses were her passion and the symbol of her life.
Kathryn was survived by her parents, Stanley Kowalczyk and Lorrie Lesza-Kowalczyk; her sisters, Victoria (Matthew) Guthrie, Carrie (Jeremy) Hansen, and Stephanie Kowalczyk; her fiance;, Jason Wilfert; a niece Madeline, and many aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jan and Aniela Kowalczyk; her maternal grandparents Edward and Mildred Pencak, an uncle Bronislaw Kowalczyk, and an aunt Irena Kowalczyk.
Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch, IL. Interment will follow in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch. INFO 847-395-4000.
