Larry L. Last Minute Larry Schwaiger, 55, of Somers, died at his residence on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in Kenosha on Feb. 8, 1958, he was the son of Leo and May (Otto) Schwaiger. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. Larry also attended Gateway Technical College where he received his EMT and Firefighters 1 Certification.
On March 12, 1977, in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to Gail Thomas.
He was employed with Peter Pirsch & Sons, Lincoln Contractors Supply, Burlington RV and Camper, and Action Territory. For 15 years, Larry was a dedicated volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Somers Fire Department where he proudly achieved the rank of Lieutenant.
Larry loved deer hunting. From the time his children were small, he looked forward to hunting with them and Richard in Sparta. Larry spent many hours happily rebuilding his Rat Rod, woodworking and riding his Harley.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gail Schwaiger; his mother, May Schwaiger of Kenosha; his two children, Karen (Johnny) Trujillo and Mike Schwaiger, both of Somers; his four grandchildren, Alyssa, Reyna, Hunter and Haylee; and his sister, Diane (Rob) Bohnen of Kenosha.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation for Larry will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 23, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The Schwaiger family would like to thank Dr. Bandealy, Dr. Wong and their staff for the excellent care they provided. Also, they would like to acknowledge the support from family, friends and the community from the June 15th Fundraiser. It was beyond their expectations!
