Marcella A. Hackbarth

Marcella A. Hackbarth, 96, of Kenosha, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Grande Prairie Health and Rehab.

Born on March 3, 1918 in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Elizabeth (Brockling) Kiesler.

She was a graduate of Immaculata High School in Chicago, Ill. where she excelled in womens softball. As a young mother she played on a womens farm softball league in Kenosha County and was one of their best pitchers.

On Aug. 31, 1940, at St. Marys Catholic Church, she was married to Walter R. Hackbarth. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2001.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for Andrew Lumber Company and McDevitt Auto Service.

Marcella was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and a past member of their Altar Society. She liked to read, crochet and travel. She was a big fan of the Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.

She is survived by her four children, Daryl (Joyce) Hackbarth of The Villages, Fla., Judyann (Larry) Brown of Coleman, Ga., Eugene (Mary) Hackbarth of Petersburg, Mich. and Marciann (William) Jefferson of Kenosha; her 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way.

She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Gladys Kiesler Kreuscher and Anne Kiesler; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph B., Jr., Richard, Sr. and Gilbert Kiesler; two sisters, Bernadette Northrup and Elizabeth Babe Massie; her sister-in-law, Karen Kiesler Ernst; and two brothers-in-law, Fred Northrup and Loren Massie.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church, 7400 75th Street. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation for Marcella will be held at the funeral home (TODAY), Sunday, March 23rd from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance, Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie,WI 53158 would be appreciated.
