Mitchell O. Kitchens, 86, of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Froedtert South-Kenosha Medical Center Campus.

Born in Fulton, Miss., on January 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Martin and Eva (Lewis) Kitchens. He was educated in the schools of Fulton before moving to Kenosha in 1952. He served in the United States Army from February 3, 1952 until his honorable discharge on January 8, 1955.

On August 4, 1956, he married Clarice Cicchini at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kenosha.

Mitchell was formerly employed by Nash Motors in Kenosha, AAMCO Tools in North Chicago, and retired from Frank L. Wells in Kenosha in 1997. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan and was an excellent woodworker, making beautiful furniture that can be found in many family members' homes. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Clarice Kitchens of Kenosha; three daughters, Cheryl (John) Banas of Kenosha, Carrie (Mike) Cooke of Grafton, Wis., and Cathy (David) Palermo of Kenosha; nine grandchildren, Michael (Monique) Banas, Marisa (Jacob) Rodriguez, Brian (Lauren) Banas, Ryan (Colleen) Cooke, Jared Cooke, Brenna Cooke, Ashley (Christopher) Shear, Jessica (Jorge) Gamarro and Bryce Palermo; and eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin and Edward Kitchens.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, at Proko Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at St. George Cemetery.
