Phyllis A. Brunner-Specht
Phyllis A. Brunner-Specht, 79, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her entire family at Hospice House on Feb. 20, 2014.
Born on March 12, 1934, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Modory) Layton. She was a graduate of St. Catherines High School.
On Oct. 16, 1954, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Donald Brunner. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1987. She was later united in marriage to Vernon Specht on June 6, 1997, at St. Marys Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2000.
Phyllis had been employed with Sears on Pershing Plaza, working in womens wear for over 11 years. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, volunteering with the INNS program and had served as the 9th grade CCD coordinator for 10 years. In her younger years, she was involved in the Catholic Jr. League and was a Brownie Leader at St. Marys Elementary School. Phyllis also enjoyed trivia and her ladies card club.
She will be dearly missed by her five children, Kevin (Nancy) Brunner, Jeff (Denise) Brunner, Mary (Tim) Baas, Steve (Terry) Brunner, and Lee-Ann (Mark) Sharp; 13 grandchildren, Allison (Drew) Bain, Joel, Aaron, Nichelle, Shaun, Kelsey, Laura (Mark) Debish, Brianna, Noah, Keegan, Kieron, Quinton, and Aria Sharp; and two great-grandchildren, Anya and Ian Debish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, granddaughter, Shannon Brunner, and great-granddaughter, Gianna Debish.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 7400- 39th Ave. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Private inurnment will be take place in All Saints Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with Phylliss family to celebrate her life at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 24, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a special time of sharing taking place at 7 p.m.
