Ruth D. Wood
1932 - 2014
Ruth D. Wood, 81, of Kenosha, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at her residence, with her family beside her.
Born on Oct. 25, 1932, in Wagner, S.D., she was the daughter of the late Hollis and Maude (Hoey) Farley.
At the young age of five, she moved with her family to Kenosha. She attended local schools and was a graduate from Mary D. Bradford High School.
On June 28, 1952 in Kenosha, she was united in marriage to Henry Hank Wood. After 37 years of marriage, Hank preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1989.
She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Ruth was a proud homemaker who dedicated her life to her family.
She will be remembered by her four children, Lisa (Lee) Fox, Kayle Wood, Bridget (Greg) Pawell, and Brian (Darlene Walsh- Wood) Wood; her brother, Dennis Farley; her sister, Vernise Schmidt; her nine grandchildren, Kelly (Jim) Lasco, David (Lindsey) Fox, Joshua (Christie) Marquardt, Jacob (Amanda) Marquardt, Molly (Nathan Smith) Marquardt, Samantha (Bryan Dolnik) Pawell, Kevin Pawell, Brianna Wood and Gabrielle Wood; and her six great grandchildren, Jace and Leah Lasc; Gracie, Harper and Max Marquardt and Colin Fox.
Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Farley and sisters, Ted Bammer, Kate Phillips, and Pat Greb, and one brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014, beginning with a prayer service at 9:15 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. at St. James Catholic Church, 5804 Sheridan Rd. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. A visitation for Ruth will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 21, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials remembrances to Hospice Alliance, Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 or to St. James Catholic Church, which will be utilized to promote Catholic education, would be appreciated.
The Wood family would like to extend their special thanks to the staffs of Home Instead of Racine and Hospice Alliance for the care and respect given to Ruth.
