1925 - 2014
Walter K. Ketelhut, 89, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove.
Born on March 7, 1925, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Reinhardt and Viola (Cole) Ketelhut. Wally attended local schools when he was enlisted into the U.S. Army. He proudly served from March 24, 1943, until his discharge on Dec. 8, 1945.
On Dec. 23, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Van Tine at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, where Wally had been a member since his childhood.
After returning from the service, Wally was employed with Arco Auto Transport for a number of years. He was later employed with Big Buck Building Center, retiring in the late 1980s.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Dorothy; his two children, Janice (Timothy) Helgesen and Thomas Ketelhut and three grandchildren, Andrew Ketelhut, Lynn (Timothy) Misicka and Joy Helgesen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roger and Mary in infancy, and his sister, Marjorie Keitel.
A Memorial Service in celebration of the life of Wally will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 12 Noon at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 5900 7th Avenue. Private inurnment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 31 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
