Vernon C. Roenfanz

1937 - 2014

Vernon C. Roenfanz, 76, a resident of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., went to be with his heavenly father surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha.

Born on May 24, 1937, in Minong, Wis., he was the son of the late Vernon and Susie (McCord) Roenfanz.

He served his country in the US Army Reserves.

On May 15, 1965, he married Winifred Winnie Lemke at Silver Lake Community Baptist Church.

For many years he was an insurance salesman, having sold for Modern Woodman, Prudential and American Family. He was a past member of First Assembly of God Church and Prayer House Assembly of God. He and his wife are currently a members of Crossway Community Church.

Vernon first came to Kenosha in 1959 and throughout Vernons life his faith was his passion. Through various points in Vernons life he was a Sunday School teacher, life long member and former president of the "Gideons", foster parent, Big Brother, Big Brother of the year, mentor at Salem Grade School, and RSVP member. Vernon would also show his fossil and geological rock collection to various schools around the Kenosha area.

He is survived by his wife, Winnie of Pleasant Prairie; one son, Kevin (Paulina) Roenfanz of Bristol; one daughter Debbie Roenfanz of Kenosha; two grandchildren; Devin and Soheila; one brother Darryle Roenfanz of Perkinston, Miss., and one sister, Elaine (Clifford) Block of Stoughton, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Crossway Community Church in Bristol. (13905-75th Street, [past I-94 on south side of street]) Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place at a later date at Sunset Ridge Memorial park. In lieu of flowers memorials to Crossway Community Church would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank Hospitality Manor and employees Jody, Patti, Debra and Lynn for their compassionate care during his stay. They would also like to thank Dr. Thacenkary of Aurora, and especially Lori, the ICU RN for their kindness during this difficult time.
