Frank J. Butch Wigand, 73, of Camp Lake, Wis., died Wednesday morning, April 2, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Frank Joseph Wigand was born on June 10, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Frank and Eva Greiff Wigand. On May 20, 1967, in Chicago, Ill., Frank was united in marriage to Nancy Heim. They made their home in Arlington Heights, Ill., until moving to Camp Lake 41 years ago.
Frank served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from Sept. 18, 1963, until discharge on Sept. 17, 1965. He was a hand grenade instructor. He earned the Good conduct medal.
Frank formerly worked as a route salesman for Jays Potato Chips out of Silver Lake, Wis. He then worked as a janitor for Riverview School in Silver Lake and for Wilmot Union High School in Wilmot, WIs., until retiring in 2005.
Frank attended Holy Cross Church in Wilmot. He earned his Emergency Medical Technician rating and was a member of the Salem Township Rescue Squad from 1973 until 1980. He enjoyed fishing and was a Bears fan.
Frank is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Katie (Jacob) Balding of Trevor, Wis.; son, Luke (Jamie) of Crystal Lake, Ill.; two granddaughters, Olivia Ann and Matilda Kay; one sister, Gloria (Sidney) Corbett of Arlington Heights, Ill.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Wigand; stepsister, Joan (Chuck) Hlinka; stepfather, John Mangi; and two stepmothers, Pauline Black and Stina.
The Wigand family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Haase-Lockwood and Assoc. Funeral Home and Crematory.
