Mary June Latimer

1936 - 2014

Mary June Latimer, 77, of Kenosha passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at United Hospital Systems - KMCC with her family by her side. Mary was born on May 8, 1936, in Noxapater, Miss., to Humphries and Daisy (Fulwiley) Wells. She married Mertis Young Sr. in 1963. Mary married Emit Latimer in Louisville, Miss., in 1970 and he preceded her in death in 1973. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Temple in Kenosha and served her church as a Water Bearer. Mary was a people person and always had a smile on her face and she was known to the neighborhood kids she would always feed as "Miss Mary".

She was also preceded in death by, her parents; a daughter-in-law, Diane Wells; three brothers, David, Willie and Henry Wells and two sisters, Ethel Wells and Rosie Holmes.

Mary is survived by five children, Humphrie Wells, and Dornesser Young, both of Kenosha, Mertis Young Jr. of Milwaukee, Dorothy (Carl) Citchen of St. Louis, Mo., and Lisa Young of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Byron, Bryant, Divinity, Jodeci, DeAngelo, Dominique and Mertis III; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Clifton and Jimmy D. Wells; four sisters, Annie Pearl McDonald, Sallie Ann Triplett, Hattie Lee Wells and Annie Mae Graham as well as many nieces, nephews and friends

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Bethlehem Temple (2528 - Roosevelt Road) with interment to follow in Green Ridge Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
