Herman W. Bud Pooch

1920 - 2014

Herman W. Bud Pooch, 93, died peacefully, on April 29, 2014, at St. Josephs Home.

The son of the late Otto and Elizabeth (Krause) Pooch, he was born on Aug. 18, 1920. He attended Friedens Lutheran School and was a graduate of Bradford High School.

He served his country in the Army during World War II and was a Bronze Star recipient.

On June 14, 1947, in Racine, he married Loretta Lindquist.

He worked for many years at Southport Lumber Company. After retiring, Bud enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with his family.

He was a lifelong member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta, and his two children, Susan (Don) Lamers, of St. Louis, Mo., and Ken (Sonia Mott) Pooch, of Richfield, Wis.

Bud is further survived his five grandchildren, Brad Lamers, Katie (Ted) McNabola, David Lamers, Matt Lamers, and Emily Aguilar; and his three great-grandchildren, Christopher Aguilar, Maggie McNabola, and Claire McNabola.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth (Gus) Kinas, and his brother, Carl (Helene) Pooch.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5038 19th Avenue, with military honors to follow. Private interment took place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation for Bud was held at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Josephs Home for their kind and compassionate care during the last three years.

Bud was a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be deeply missed.
