Evelyn was born March 28, 1918, in Egg Harbor, Wis. She was the oldest of three children born to Clara (Demin) and Edwin Christenson. She was educated in the schools of Sturgeon Bay. Evelyn was granted a special driving permit at the age of 12 so she and her brothers could get to school.

Evelyn loved to dance whenever she had the chance. She along with her late husband, Edward I Sandberg, whom she married in Reno, Nev., on April 5, 1949, square danced into their late 70s. Along with dancing she loved to bowl and was a very good card player.

Evelyn was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

She was a traveler and did so whenever she had the chance. Evelyn and her husband visited many countries in their travels including China, Egypt, England, Finland, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, and Sweden. She once celebrated New Years on the Nile.

Evelyn was a marvelous cook and baker. Her apple pie could win a blue ribbon.

Her working career started with cottages she owned in Ephraim, Wis. She went on to work at Piggly Wiggly and retired from Tri-Clover as a scheduler and a union steward.

Of all of Evelyns loves her most important and cherished were her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was always said she was one lucky woman.
