Manford C. Manny Bear

Manford Manny C. Bear, 99, formerly of Kenosha, late of Naples, Fla., passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014.

As a realtor and mortgage banker, Manny, owner of I. J. Bear and Son (now Bear Realty), helped thousands of Kenoshans to become part of the community. He served at various times as president of the Wisconsin Board of Realtors, the president of the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce, and the president of Beth Hillel Temple.

Manny will be remembered as a gentle, kind, generous man of remarkable integrity. He gave back to his family, community, and country throughout his life, in the military, for Beth Hillel, for the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts, and for many other causes.

Manny served in the second world war as a captain in the Fifth Infantry Division, training in Iceland before landing at Omaha beach and leading his company across France until he was wounded. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

In 1946, he married his wife, Dee, and is survived by her as well as by his two daughters, Susan Janis and Joan Marks, and one grandson, Elliot Marks. He is remembered as an extraordinary husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, remarkable for the joy, love, and kindness he gave to his whole family.

Graveside services for Manford will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
