William Haubrich Jr., 92, of Naples, Fla., passed away on Nov. 28, 2012 ,surrounded by his family. Bill was a resident of Naples, Fla., for the past 33 years after having relocated from Shakopee, Minn., where he was a small business owner. Bill was born on April 16, 1920, in Kenosha, Wis.
Bill served in the Second World War as a Combat Jump Paratrooper with the 507th P.I.C.T., 17th Airborne Division, 1st Allied Airborne. His initial drop was at 0948 hours on 24 March 1945 in Operation Varsity Crossing the Rhine River into Germany. After serving his country, he went into furniture sales until his retirement at age 87.
Bill is survived by his brother, Gerald Haubrich of Dallas, Tex.; his four sons, William (David), James (Melanie), John (Ed), Thomas (Kathy); his daughter, Suzanne (Dolette) and his five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martella Joyce Stein Haubrich; his sister, Joyce; his brother, Ronald; his parents ,William and Hattie Haubrich, and his first born son, William Ernest.
he family will hold a celebration of his life at the Museum of Military Memorabilia in Naples, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Museum of Military Memorabilia, P.O. Box 112800, Naples, FL 34108.
Bill will always be remembered for his independent spirit and his sense of humor.
