Laurence S. Augustine

Laurence S. Augustine, 89, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Kenosha, Wis., passed away on Dec. 12, 2012, at Creekside Hospice in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born on July 6, 1923, in Kenosha, the son of the late Fred and Jenny Augustine. He attended Bradford High School, graduating in 1941. In 1951, he married Leta Mae Havlin. They later divorced.
After high school, he served an apprenticeship as a brick layer under his father, becoming a journeyman brick layer. Beginning in the early 1970s, he was employed as a police officer at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Upon his retirement from UW-P, he relocated to Las Vegas, working as a security officer at the MGM Grand, from which he retired in 1992.
He enjoyed sports, playing basketball, baseball, and later becoming an umpire and referee. He also enjoyed coaching Little League.
He is survived by his two sons, Matthew (Kim) Augustine and Brian (Mara) Augustine, both of Kenosha; seven grandchildren, Brandy (Nolan) McAbee, Jason Rollins, Leila Augustine, David Augustine, Eric Augustine, Michael Augustine and Megan Augustine; three great grandchildren, Taylor and Cody Hendreckson, Adien Rollins and a sister, Darlene Boots Lamont of Media, Penn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jenny; and two brothers, Floyd Augustine and Chester Augustine.
A private memorial service will be held.
