Lois J. Dowell

1931 - 2013

Lois J. Dowell, 81, of Wilmot, Wis., passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Hospice Alliance Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

She was born June 18, 1931 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Mervin and Dorothy (Banet) Noxon. Lois had lived in Chicago for many years, before moving to Channel Lake in 1951, and later settling in Wilmot in 1972. She was a devoted member of Holy Cross (formerly Holy Name) Church, Wilmot, Wis., as well as the churchs Womens Group. First and foremost, Lois enjoyed time spent with her family. She also enjoyed square dancing with the Paddock Lake Squares, reading, sewing, and writing letters. On Feb. 3, 1951, she married Glenn H. Dowell in Chicago and he preceded her in death June 27, 2005.

Survivors include her children, Michael of Santa Clara, NM, Jean Dowell of Wilmot, Wis., Daniel (Deborah) of Genoa City, Wis., Charles (Roxann) of Richmond, Ill., Frank (Diane) of Spring Grove, Ill., David (Kathy) of Wonder Lake, Ill., Dennis (Sharon) of Wilmot, Wis., Susan (Craig) Schilz of Silver Lake, Wis., James (Jody) of Paddock Lake, Wis., Peggy (James) OConnell of Powers Lake, Wis., Tammy (David) Gelden of Burlington, Wis., and son-in-law John Toomey of Salem, Wis.; 32 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Janet (Jack) Maleski of Bullhead City, Ariz.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Toomey, two grandsons, Tommy Dowell and Eric Voight, and three siblings, Donna Noxon, Doris Osborn and Richard Noxon.

Funeral services with Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Holy Cross Church, Hwys C & B, Wilmot, WI. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL. Info: 847-395-4000.
