Helen Marie Mockus Penewell Friedrich, 91, passed away at Lakeland Hospital on Thursday, April 11, 2013.
Formerly of Beloit, Helen lived in Kenosha and Walworth county until moving to Elkhorn.
Helen was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Beloit, Wis., daughter of John and Elizabeth (Pilutes) Mockus. Helen graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, then married Earl V. Penewell January 1941. He predeceased her on Nov. 11, 1967. Helen married Kurt G. Friedrich on Sept. 25, 1976. He predeceased her on July 25, 1992.
Helen was formerly employed by Beloit Memorial Hospital, Aldens Catalog, Echman Metal, Beauty View, Feather Hill, Inc, The Abbey, Country Motel and private house cleaning in Walworth County.
Helen was an avid golfer at the Country Club Estates Golf Course in Fontana until she was 85 years old. Helen had much energy and compassion for life. She often was the life of the party, full of humor and quick wit. Her motto was, "Life is not worth living if you are not dancing".
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Penewell Dickerson Howard of Beloit and son, E.J. (Teddi) Penewell of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; three grandchildren, Angie (Randy) Stines, Brain (Kim) Dickerson, and Barry (Heather) Dickerson. Seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents; son, Richard E. Penewell; granddaughter Lisa Penewell and two brothers: John and Bernard Mockus.
Father Oriol Regales of St. Patrick Parish in Elkhorn will officiate the memorial service which will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday May4th at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens on Highway 50 and 67 in Lake Geneva.
The family is being assisted by the Toynton Funeral Service of Walworth, WI.
A memorial will be established in Helens name.
