Zelda GALL Obituary

GALL Zelda Cohen, wife of the late Sidney Lee Gall, of Lexington, passed away Mon, Oct 24, 2011. She was born in Indianapolis, IN and attended Butler University. She is survived by a son, Steven Gall (Robin) of Lexington; and 2 daughters, Pamela Kowan of Atlanta, GA and Deborah Gall of Lexington; 5 grandchildren, Phillip Gall (Allison) of New York, Andrew Gall of Lexington, Aaron Kowan (Sue) of Atlanta, Liza Goldenberg of Lexington and Lauren Goldenberg (Jake Constantine) of Chicago; and 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Samuel (Clara) Cohen, of Indianapolis, IN; a sister-in-law, Audrey Cohen, Las Vegas and several nieces and nephews. Zelda was active in the Lexington community volunteering as a Grey Lady at the Veterans Hospital and a Pink Lady at Good Samaritan Hospital. She taught religious school and worked in the library at Temple Adath Israel and was a member of Ohavay Zion Synagogue. She was a member and Past President of the Council of Jewish Women. During her membership, she served on the committee that helped start the Department of Audiology at the University of Kentucky and served on the original Board of that department. She also participated in a literacy action program for adults, served on the Board of Baby Health Services in Lexington and volunteered at the Lexington Children's Museum for more than 10 years. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tue at Milward-Broadway where services will be at 2:30pm on Wed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504; Temple Adath Israel, 124 N Ashland Ave, Lexington, KY 40502; the Susan G.
