MATTINGLY Joseph Frances, 82, of Lexington, passed away Sat, Jan 5, 2013, at Jewish Hospital. He was a native of Louisville, son of the late John Thomas and Frances Claudia Mattingly. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Xavier High School and earned his Bachelors Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict, retired manager for Kroger, and a member of Christ the King in Lexington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Kitson Mattingly, M.D. He is survived by his children, Jan Weintraub (Dan); Jonna Mattingly of New York City; and Jennifer Mattingly of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Max and Jeremy Weintraub, and Kitson and Jack Smyth; and a sister, Bettie Mattingly. Burial will be at a later date in Sharon Township, OH. Arrangements entrusted to Ratterman's 3711 Lexington Rd. Memorials may be made to St. Xavier High School Scholarship Fund.

Joe,John,and Bettie were my dear friends from 70 years ago.Jo had a great sense of humor,but WW2 put us all on different paths.My prayers are for him and for his great family.

Jan, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. It's hard to accept no matter how long we've had a loved one in our life. My daddy also died at 82. Over the years, the pain gradually changes to peace each time we remember and miss them. My love to you and your family.
